Developing Grit, Self-Control, and a Growth Mindset in Children and Teens
A growing body of research is finding that grit, self-control, and a growth mindset can have a strong influence on academic achievement, emotional well-being, and health. Furthermore, these qualities have been found to be the “secret sauce” to success. In this workshop, participants will learn the latest research, as well as strategies, that promote these characteristics. The presenter will share activities that are part of her upcoming workbook for teens titled, “The Grit Guide for Teens: A Workbook to Help You Build Perseverance, Self-Control, and a Growth Mindset.”
Helping Students Change
1:45 PM-3:00 PM
Do you work with students who say that they want to change, but despite their interest in changing, engage in the same negative behaviors? We all do! Come here the latest strategies that lead to lasting, positive changes. Strategies that address worry, procrastination, anger, and disorganization will be discussed. An emphasis will be on ACTUAL STRATEGIES that you can use as opposed to simply describing the “problem behavior”.
